Structured, well planned face-to-face tuition that really works - July 2023
By the end of year 4 our daughter started saying that she did not like maths at all. We wanted her to regain her confidence, so, over the period of about one year, we tried Explore Learning Whiteley, and then a private tutor in Stubbington. Neither really worked for our daughter, so we did the trial session with Vikki at the very start of year 6. Our daughter enjoyed that session – and within a couple of months, she opted to do tuition on a Saturday morning, rather than dance classes! Although each hourly session was predominantly focused on mathematics, we added some English to make it more enjoyable, given that our daughter greatly enjoys creative writing and reading.
Vikki’s approach to tuition is methodical, and it is based on sound working practices, where learning goals are identified, and the child’s learning is tracked in a course plan. The areas that Vikki had identified as needing work always aligned with the termly reports from our daughter’s school, or questions that our daughter had found more difficult in her year 6 mock SATs papers.
Over the course of year 6, our daughter regained her confidence in maths, and she excelled in all aspects of that subject at school. She did well in her year 6 SATs exams. She also did well at the entrance exams for both Portsmouth High School and The Portsmouth Grammar School, where she will go to the latter in September.
We do not think that our daughter would have done quite so well for herself without the learning intervention that Vikki was able to provide. As such, we would highly recommend maths or English tuition with Vikki, if you feel that your children need additional help.

My son has been attending 1-2-1 sessions with Vikki for over a year now, this was following attending sessions elsewhere that were computer based and in groups which didn’t really progress his learning.
However, he has come a long way since attending sessions at Stubbington Studies. When he started school in Year R we were in the middle of the Covid pandemic and this with his processing speed left him significantly behind, he lacked confidence and started to hate English and maths, it was obvious that we needed to get him extra help. Since starting Vikki’s sessions which are tailored to the individuals needs we haven’t looked back.
He loves going, has the best fun whilst learning - Vikki is an absolute treasure and an amazing teacher, so pleased I stumbled across her website and got in touch.

Our daughter has been visiting with Vicki since Easter 2024 and we are so pleased with her improved confidence and development. We were advised that she didn’t often ask for clarity from the teacher and therefore struggled with some tasks that had been set.
We found Vicki through a search and she arranged to meet and assess our daughter to understand how she could help. A six week program was then developed for our daughter and we were kept informed of her progress.
We have been so pleased with how Vicki has helped that we plan to keep our daughter topped up with her 1 to 1 tuition going forward.
Our daughter enjoys her time with Vicki and looks forward to going each week, we couldn’t be happier we found Vicki.
